Moniteurs developed the framework concept for Spreepark—a wayfinding and information system that combines analogue and digital content on art, culture and nature. Together with Grün Berlin GmbH, we identified the park’s hidden stories and developed narrative formats that bring its ongoing transformation to life.

Thematic storytelling trails and highlight routes were created for different visitor groups, offering diverse ways to experience the park’s history, art and nature. A restrained design allows the artworks to take centre stage while uncovering the stories that connect them.

Workshops with Grün Berlin GmbH laid the foundation for the wayfinding concept. Together, we analysed the existing conditions, developed the overarching narrative, and defined thematic trails and key content areas.

The wayfinding concept is based on the narrative “transformed – delighted”, reflecting Spreepark’s transformation through history, culture and nature. It provides the foundation for communicating all content, turning the park into a place of discovery through thematic storytelling trails.

We expanded Spreepark’s existing corporate design with the Swirl as a distinctive key visual. The addition of a bold, vibrant accent colour creates a unique visual identity.

Inspired by the circle of the historic Ferris wheel, the Swirl evolves into the defining visual element of the wayfinding system. It embodies movement, transformation and the playful character of Spreepark.

Analogue and digital media follow a shared design language, communicating stories in a clear, accessible and playful way. They create information experiences that provide orientation, inspire curiosity and make the park accessible on multiple levels.

The wayfinding signs combine a clear information hierarchy with the park’s distinctive visual identity. Circular information elements mark key junctions, while illustrative highlight symbols and ground markings guide visitors along the Highlight Walk. The result is an intuitive wayfinding system with a strong visual identity and high recognition value.

Further development of the existing pictogram family through consistent stroke widths, a unified visual language, and additional motifs for new areas of application.
